The Cobb Workforce Development Center provides a variety of services to assist people seeking employment.
Teach beginning and intermediate computer training classes! We’re seeking volunteers computer class assistants to help students with computer questioins. If you believe you have the skills to facilitate a class, we are requiring that you have some facilitation and training skills along with a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer terminology will be necessary. COMPUTERS FOR YOUTH, ATLANTA

Teach parents and children how to use their CFY computer to strengthen core academic skills. All participating families must attend a half-day workshop where they learn on the CFY computer they then take home. Workshops are held on Saturdays at the school and volunteers are needed to coach students/families while a trained instructor provides direction in basic computer skills.

Literacy Action Inc. (LAI) provides a teacher-led classroom instruction for functionally illiterate adults. These adults want to get the skills and education they need to build their self-esteem and become successful. Literacy Action provides free employment oriented educational programs and is the largest, private adult basic education provider in Georgia.
Dates/Times
Learning Lab Assistant - Assist students while in the Learning Lab or Computer Lab,; monitor and assist students using computer software. (M-Th, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM) at least two hours a week for (3 months)
Motivation Coach - Motivate and encourage students to continue their pursuit of quality education. Meet with students initially to assess goals, periodically assess attainment of goals and plot progress, etc. (At least 3 conversations per month by telephone or face-to-face.)
One-on-One Tutor - To enhance LAI students by giving them one-on-one instruction to non-classroom participants. Tutor students as the very lowest end of the educational spectrum (learning alphabets etc.), Tutor students with very specialized educational needs (e.g.. GED math or writing). At least 2 hours per week for one (3 months).
Prerequisites
Literacy Action volunteer training must be completed before you can start volunteering at LAI. Please contact Gregory Bailey, Director of Student Services for LAI volunteer training details gbailey@literacyaction.org. Hours can be reported as volunteer hours.

Forever Family has a need for volunteers to assist young children, in their computer lab, with homework assignments and general computer questions.

After School Program: Monday - Thursday 2:30pm - 5:30pm
Extended After School Program: Tuesday & Thursday 5:30pm - 7:30pm
Prerequisites
Volunteers must attend a volunteer training before assisting in computer lab. Training will go towards volunteer hours. Recurring Volunteer Training Dates: Every 2nd Saturday of the Month from 11AM-12:30PM, Every 1st/3rd Monday from 5:30PM-7:30PM, Every 2nd/4th Wednesday from 5:30PM to 7:30PM. Audit TechBridge projects by conducing detailed interviews with our clients. Volunteers submit the results of these interviews to TechBridge so that we may improve our service delivery and customer satisfaction. View our list of Quality Advisors
TECHNOLOGY TASK MATCHING
Assist TechBridge member nonprofits with a particular technology need such as one-on-one coaching on the Office Suite or giving an overview of the latest phone systems.
TECHNOLOGY HABITAT HOUSE BUILD
Each spring TechBridge coordinates a house build with approximately fourteen technology community sponsors. Sponsors supply volunteer labor from their teams. This is a great way to help a family in need.
