Horses in a Ballroom? |
Atlanta − Wednesday, April 02, 2008. Horses in a Ballroom? The International Special Events Society awarded The Maverick Group the prestigious Allie Award Sunday, March 30, in the category of Most Unique Entertainment for their design and production of the "TechBridge Digital Ball 2007." Also nominated for Best Themed Entertainment, The Maverick Group boasts a total of three nominations for the TechBridge event, when combined with a previous nomination in January.
The Digital Ball welcomed 1,300 guests to a seated dinner May 5, 2007, with aerialists, opera singers and performing Andalusian horses, immersing them in the Byzantine Empire−meets−Renaissance theme.
"It was funny and refreshing to pitch an idea to a client that included a gang of aerial pirates, elevated opera singers and horses in a ballroom, and instead of them raising an eyebrow, they simply smiled and said, "Sounds great," Kelly Nelson, Director of Creative, said.
Hosted in the Georgia World Congress Center's Thomas J. Murphy ballroom, the fundraiser greatly exceeded its goal. The unique design and strategic planning accomplished by The Maverick Group has significantly contributed to TechBridge's multi−year fundraising success story.
Annual proceeds of the Digital Ball benefit local nonprofits with much-needed technology.
"We are pleased and honored to receive this recognition for our work with TechBridge," Lydia Anderson, Director of Production, said. "A large part of our corporate mission is to give back to the community by supporting selected nonprofits and partnering in their successes."
This was The Maverick Group's sixth year producing the Digital Ball. They have contributed to the fundraiser's growth and success, helping it to become the largest attended fundraiser in Atlanta, grossing over one million in revenue, Nelson said.
The ISES 18th Annual Allie Awards took place Sunday, March 30, 2008, at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center. The annual event honors event production and design professionals in the Atlanta area and beyond who have set standards in the industry. These nominations are two of three for the TechBridge event; the first was from Special Events Magazine in the category of "Best Fundraising Event" in January 2008.
Driven by the management vision and creative passion of Lydia Anderson and Kelly Nelson, The Maverick Group was formed in 1992 as an event production agency specializing in concept, design, messaging, and execution.
