Digital Ball 2007 Celebrates Technology’s Impact on Georgia’s Nonprofits |
Atlanta, GA – May 8, 2007. TechBridge, a nonprofit dedicated to putting technology know-how into the hands of other nonprofits, is pleased to announce that its annual fundraising event, the TechBridge Digital Ball, presented by Accenture, once again exceeded attendance and sponsorship goals.
The gala event held Saturday, May 5, 2007 at the Georgia World Congress Center brought 1,170 technology, business and nonprofit leaders together for an evening of dinner, dancing and visually stunning performances. Ninety-seven corporate sponsors gave more than $1.1 million in cash and in-kind donations to the Digital Ball to fund TechBridge operations and its nonprofit technology programs and services. In 2006 alone TechBridge provided services to over 180 nonprofits.
The event was co-chaired by Kristin Kirkconnell, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, AGL Resources and John Seral, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, GE Infrastructure. Kirkconnell will be joined by Jean-Michel Arès, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, The Coca-Cola Company as the co-chairs of next year’s event. Summing up his two-year term as Digital Ball co-chair, Seral said, “Community involvement is key to business success and TechBridge has become a focal point for community service activities for technology professionals. I call upon all of Atlanta’s technology leaders to join us in ensuring that the Digital Ball continues its track record of success.”
True to its reputation as the technology social and philanthropic event of the year, the 2007 Digital Ball enjoyed the support of more than 50 area CIOs/CTOs who served as event hosts and award judges. Key corporate sponsors included Microsoft, The Home Depot, AT&T, Cisco and SAP. For the 7th time in as many years Accenture served as the event’s presenting sponsor.
“Accenture partners with clients to bring technology innovation into the corporate and government sectors every day, so it makes sense for us to encourage similar innovation in the nonprofit sector through our support of TechBridge,” says Craig Ramsey, Managing Director – Atlanta Office, Accenture. “We look forward to continuing our work with TechBridge to help nonprofits across the region realize their full potential through improved technology.”
A highlight of the Digital Ball was the presentation of the annual Technology Innovation Award (TIA), given by Accenture, to Juvenile Justice Fund and Fulton Country Children’s Advocacy Center. The award recognizes a nonprofit organization that has used technology to significantly impact its mission. The award winner received $40,000 in TechBridge services and Microsoft software and a $5,000 cash grant. Two finalists, Bobby Dodd Institute and The Well Project, each received $16,000 in TechBridge services, Microsoft software and a $5,000 cash grant. This year’s TIA winner and two finalists were selected from a field of 28 impressive nonprofit nominees.
Through its partnership, Juvenile Justice Fund (JJF) and Fulton Country Children’s Advocacy Center (FC CAC) developed a computerized Child Abuse Case Tracking Information System (CACTIS) to share and update important case information with often numerous and varied constituents. A secure and collaborative case file now facilitates a more effective and timely team response and enhances a responder’s ability to protect and serve children. JJF and FC CAC plan to use the TIA proceeds to develop a training and demonstration system for CACTIS and to update their agencies’ respective websites.
