TechBridge Receives Generous “Building CommUnity Day” Grant from The Home Depot |
Atlanta, GA – February 12, 2007 – TechBridge, an Atlanta-based nonprofit providing technology know-how to other nonprofits, is pleased to announce it has received a $20,000 unrestricted grant from The Home Depot as part of the company’s inaugural “We Build CommUnity” celebration. TechBridge was one of 24 local nonprofit organizations recognized by The Home Depot for creating innovative programs and collaborative partnerships that impact the local Atlanta community.
"The Home Depot has a long history of giving back to the community,” says Dave Kardesh, Vice President - Corporate Systems. “The work done by TechBridge is an especially good fit with our hands-on service philosophy. We are proud that our contributions will build stronger nonprofits.”
TechBridge’s mission focuses on helping other nonprofit organizations utilize technology to become more efficient, more effective and higher performing. In 2006 alone TechBridge helped more than 180 nonprofits to enhance operational efficiencies and improve their delivery of essential services.
In line with its hands-on culture, The Home Depot also contributes volunteer hours by participating in TechBridge’s Corporate Partner Program. Through this unique program, the technical skills of employees are matched with the technology needs of the nonprofit community. Volunteers work side-by-side with TechBridge in initiatives including coaching students in technical skills, dismantling computers for recycling, and implementing programs to evaluate the technical needs of smaller nonprofits.
In addition to the Building CommUnity grant and hands-on participation, The Home Depot will also for the fourth consecutive year be among the largest corporate sponsors of TechBridge’s annual Digital Ball® on May 5, 2007. Presented by Accenture, TechBridge’s Digital Ball brings together Atlanta’s business, technology and nonprofit leaders in what many participants describe as ‘the technology business event to attend’.
Funds raised at its annual Digital Ball are used by TechBridge to provide critical IT solutions and services to its nonprofit clients at greatly reduced rates. “The Digital Ball is a celebration of the technology innovation of Georgia nonprofits and our best opportunity to raise awareness of their ongoing need for affordable and innovative solutions,” said TechBridge CEO, Jack McMillan recently. “Without the support of industry leaders like The Home Depot our work would not be possible.”
