Strategies on giving from some of the city's top executives |
Atlanta Business Chronicle surveyed some of the city's executives about how they align their business goals with their volunteer and fund-raising activities. Here are their answers: Craig Ramsey, managing director-Atlanta, Accenture Ltd. I think one of our most strategic partnerships in Atlanta is with TechBridge, which is a nonprofit that helps other nonprofits with their technology needs and is the local affiliate of NPower (one of Accenture's national nonprofit partners). For the past four years, we have partnered with TechBridge to present the Technology Innovation Award, which recognizes and rewards Georgia-based nonprofits for using technology to be more efficient, more effective and higher-performing. This partnership is a great fit for us overall because we have similar missions. Using technology in innovative ways to improve an organization's performance is what Accenture does every day with our clients, but is something we know many nonprofits struggle with due to lack of resources, among other things. This, coupled with Accenture's focus on building capacity in the nonprofit sector, makes our TechBridge relationship, and support of the Technology Innovation Award, a perfect fit. John Seral, chief information officer, GE Energy As GE employees, we're not only dedicated to delivering results for our customers and share owners, we're also committed to the communities where we live. We are active in supporting youth education programs, inner-city beautification projects and many other activities that help make our communities a better place to live and work. In April, over 40 members of our information technology staff put these ideas into action. We joined with the IT staff of 11 other corporations under the guidance of TechBridge to provide staff and financial support to build a new 'Technology' Habitat House for a deserving family. Not only did we create a new home in our community, but we also forged lasting relationships with fellow IT workers along the way. Collaboration produces a win-win for corporations and our communities. |
