Sixth Annual Digital Ball – Ya Had To Be There! |
Members of the TechBridge team must feel very special now and rightly so. When their leader, Jack McMillan, took the stage to pay tribute to all the sponsors who came together to make this a very special occasion for their organization and our community, he had the full attention of everyone in the house. He thanked his team for all their hard work and then turned the spotlight on Ms. Carrie Bates. Her commitment and devotion to the success of this evening was clear to all.
Over 1100 beautiful people were there to reinforce their support for the mission of TechBridge. Their combined efforts raised over $1,000,000 to be re-invested within the community by providing technology services to non-profit organizations.
There is always talk about the most effective ways to link traditional industry companies together with technology companies, and there are many successful examples within our community these days. But no other can be as dramatic as the accomplishments of the Digital Ball. Chief Information Officers from most of the leading Georgia corporations were not only present but played an active role in helping welcome all guests.
Co-hosts for the evening were Rebecca Blalock (Southern Company) and John Seral (GE Energy) and they did a great job of keeping the focus on the importance of supporting those who serve the community. Rebecca will be stepping down after serving for 2 consecutive years and the banners will be carried next year by John and Kristin Kirkconnell (AGL Resources).
Every attendee left there feeling like a winner but only one rode away in a brand new Porsche Cayman S. Huff Logue was the lucky fellow and his grin was just a little wider than his new ride.
If Jack and Carrie allow, we might publish the names of all participating companies in a future piece, but just to mention a few who I bumped into: Darnell Anderson (People Network), Michael Kogon (Definition 6), Rebecca Turner (Intellinet), Jeff Clement (Spherion), Kevin Foster (Macquarium), Mitch Free (mfgquote.com) and of course our Biker Mom of the month – Cindy Tierney of Beazer Homes.
The socializing was at the top rung of the ladder so I managed to stay even later than planned, but when I saw Ricky Steele (Thompson Technologies) cuttin’ a rug with Sandy Hofmann (Turknett) to the tune of “Play That Funky Music”, then I knew I had seen it all. I departed that fun occasion feeling good about TechBridge, our entire community and holding on to a visual image that will stay with me for at least one more year. :)
