Digital Ball Celebrates Technology Innovation and Impact |
Atlanta – May 28, 2009. Having earned a reputation as Atlanta’s premier technology event, TechBridge is pleased to announce that its ninth annual Digital Ball once again exceeded expectations. More than ninety corporate sponsors joined presenting sponsor, Accenture, to raise over $1 million in cash and in-kind donations to continue the TechBridge mission – to increase the capacity of nonprofits to serve our community. Other key sponsors of the 2009 Digital Ball included Microsoft, AirTran Airways, AutoTrader.com, The Coca-Cola Company, First Data, The Home Depot, Korn Ferry International, SAP, SAVVIS and TechLINKS. “We team with our clients and stakeholders to leverage technology to add value to the work we all do each day and know these same efforts can work for nonprofits,” says Craig Ramsey, Accenture’s Managing Director, Atlanta. “Technology has the power to transform society for the better and TechBridge works to make this a reality for nonprofits in Georgia.” Cindy Tierney, SVP and CIO, Beazer Homes USA, Inc. and Jean-Michel Arès, SVP and CIO, The Coca-Cola Company served as co-chairs of the May 9th event at the Georgia World Congress Center. In their comments they shared that in the last two years alone, nearly 350 individuals from 32 companies have volunteered 5,800 hours to support TechBridge and urged guests to get involved by volunteering time, experience and skills. They were joined by over 40 Digital Ball Hosts, leaders in the IT field, who greeted 1,020 technology, business and nonprofit executives and guests. Infinity was the theme of the 2009 Digital Ball and served as a fitting backdrop to highlight the ingenuity and impact of local nonprofits, who engage TechBridge to help them leverage technology to achieve their missions. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the eighth annual Technology Innovation Award, given by Accenture - honoring the imaginations of the eighty local nonprofits, who proposed ideas for technology makeovers to transform their businesses. Kathleen Kurre, TechBridge’s CEO, rounded out the evening by announcing that Dave Barnes, SVP and CIO, UPS will join Cindy Tierney to Chair the Digital Ball’s 10th year anniversary in 2010 and marveling at the infinite possibilities created when the resources of the technology community come face to face with the needs of the nonprofit community. “In the last 9 months since joining TechBridge, I have been overwhelmed with the generosity of Atlanta’s tightly-knit technology community. By collaborating with TechBridge, these companies and individuals understand that they are building the capacity of hundreds of nonprofits in our community. We are grateful and honored that each of them chooses to invest resources in TechBridge and look forward to the infinite opportunities ahead.” About TechBridge # # # # Contact Information:
