Practical Portals
Atlanta Business Chronicle (November 15-21, 2002)
ATLANTA - Having already developed a Web portal for the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, the folks at nonprofit organization TechBridge have been tapped to build a similar personalized communications portal for Atlanta agencies involved in developing and maintaining affordable housing.
The idea for an affordable housing portal came about during a quarterly technology planning summit TechBridge sponsored in late summer aimed at housing agencies and organizations such as the Atlanta Housing Authority, the Georgia Affordable Housing Commission and the Atlanta Housing Association of Neighborhood-based Developers.
"The top thing they requested was a way to communicate with each other and government agencies and the public," said Scott Gellar, executive director for TechBridge. "I think nonprofits are one of the most appropriate paces for portals. What they are trying to do is get a large number of people in different locations to get behind a cause and act as a community."
TechBridge also has been asked to develop a prototype portal for the Metro Atlanta Regional Arts Task Force.
