ATLANTA - Several dozen employees from area technology firms recently volunteered their time and expertise to install intrusion detection software on the computer networks of local nonprofits.
More than 110 employees from companies like Internet Security Systems Inc., Network Associates Inc., Worldspan L.P., IBM Corp., Air2Web Inc., Inflow Inc., Macquarium Intelligent Communications, Morris, Manning & Martin LLP, Silverpop Systems Inc., Yahoo! Inc., Vigilar Inc., United Parcel Service Inc. and others spent the morning of Dec. 7 installing security software for nonprofits and training nonprofit employees to better monitor their networks.
Some of the 30 nonprofits that benefited from the work include Hands on Atlanta, the Partnership Against Domestic Violence, Consumer Credit Counseling Services, CHRIS Homes, Community in Schools Atlanta and Community in Schools Georgia.
The half-day event was held at ISS's Barfield Road headquarters, and was organized to help nonprofits monitor their Internet vulnerabilities and protect against hackers.
