Celebrate 10 Years of TechBridge at Digital Ball 2010! |
|
Identified by many as Atlanta's 'Technology Event to Attend', the 2010 TechBridge Digital Ball will be held on Saturday May 8, 2010 at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. It will mark ten years for the signature gala that draws the who's who from Atlanta's technology and business communities and celebrates the impact of philanthropy and technology on our community.
Themed 'Decade, Celebrating Momentum' the black-tie event emphasizes the impressive work of TechBridge's nonprofit clients and salutes the role the technology community plays in helping them more effectively accomplish their missions. This special 2010 extravaganza finds TechBridge returning to its roots with an evening of dinner, dancing and visually stunning performances in a special, intimate setting. |

TechBridge is now accepting sponsorships, but space is limited so sign up today. Sponsorship provides for invitations to three receptions leading up to the gala evening - and sponsors at the $10k+ levels receive invitations to three additional, exclusive networking receptions. That's seven opportunities in total to network with like-minded technology executives. Click here to find out more and to sign up.
Remember, all proceeds benefit TechBridge, a nonprofit helping other nonprofits use technology to better serve our community.

Bringing a National Nonprofit Up to Tech Speed

|
When Points of Light Foundation and Hands On Network merged to form Points of Light Institute (POLI) in 2007, it became the largest volunteer network in the nation. This national nonprofit organization inspires, equips and mobilizes people to take action that changes the world. |
|
POLI is familiar with doing more with less. When Andrew Drake accepted the position of CTO at the beginning of 2009, his laptop was so old that the letters were worn off of the keyboard. With no standard software configuration in place, each workstation was loaded with a catch-all of different applications. Each employee was issued a Blackberry, but a lack of training meant that they weren't used consistently. The physical structure of the Atlanta office - a beautiful restored warehouse with thick walls - made wireless networking practically impossible.
Drake and other POLI executives agreed that it was time for the organization to do more with more - to evolve their current IT infrastructure into a tool to deliver on the mission, not impede it. So they engaged TechBridge, and the army of volunteers TechBridge brought with it. Click here to find out what happened next.
"When you work at a nonprofit, it's hard work with long hours that pays in psychic rewards," said Drake. "No one wants to spend hours trying to figure out why their computer doesn't work. TechBridge solved our needs so we have the tools to help others solve theirs."

Data Center Move Doubles Capacity
Needing room for more computing power, TechBridge doubled the size of its data center through the generosity of Savvis, TechBridge's Hosting Partner. This meant a data center move from our old location. AutoTrader.com volunteered the experience and expertise to handle the move. Working with the TechBridge team, 6 AutoTrader.com volunteers contributed over 150 hours to plan and move TechBridge's data center. The actual move began at 4:00AM on a Saturday morning, complete with donuts and coffee.

| Calling Technology Volunteers |
|

TechBridge has worked with the Atlanta nonprofit community for 10 years to implement technology solutions that enable organizations to better serve their clients and communities. During that time, the tools available to nonprofits and the skills needed to implement those solutions have changed dramatically. To address that change, TechBridge continues to engage skilled volunteers to supplement its staff and help nonprofits experience the same efficiencies that technology has brought to most of our lives.
To that end TechBridge recently launched 'TechVolunteer' - built by volunteers and enabling both individuals and corporations to easily register with TechBridge, identify their specific skills and view current opportunities for helping both TechBridge and a wide range of nonprofits.
Since January, 2009, we have been recruiting and integrating seasoned technology volunteers into our services. The results have been outstanding: 200 volunteers from 44 companies have donated over 4,700 hours.
How are they significantly increasing capacity for our nonprofit community? Click here to read about the initiatives.
